Join the Friends of Leybourne Church (FLC)
and help to save a local landmark for future generations
For over 800 years, the ancient parish Church of Leybourne, has touched the lives of the village’s inhabitants, both as a holy place and as a local landmark and historic building with many unique features.
Day-to-day running costs of the Church are funded from the weekly giving of the congregation (and kept separate from fundraising for projects), but like many ancient heritage sites, more money is constantly needed to ensure the building is preserved for future generations. An example of what needs to be done to conserve this beautiful building are the repairs to the hole in the roof which appeared quite dramatically, early in 2008.
What does becoming a Friend mean?
Becoming a “Friend of Leybourne Church” is not just about restoring a beautiful old building, it is also about coming together as a community and forming new, or rekindling former, friendships, while contributing to rewarding and vital projects.
For a very reasonable annual contribution, “Friends” will be able to meet like-minded individuals at special “Friends-only” events (such as a summer garden party) and starting with a “Songs of Praise” and a six-monthly newsletter. We can’t guarantee the appearance of Aled Jones in Leybourne, but the hymns will be just as rousing as those on Sunday evening BBC TV!
